The longevity of your press-on nails depends 80% on preparation and application, not on product quality. With the right technique, your MB Beauty nails can last up to 2 weeks without lifting. Here are all our secrets.
Step 1 — Properly Prepare Your Natural Nails
This is the most important and most often overlooked step. Poorly prepared natural nails guarantee quick lifting.
-
Clean your nails with the alcohol pad included in your MB Beauty kit — it removes cream, oil, and sebum residues that prevent the adhesive from sticking.
-
Push back your cuticles with the included cuticle pusher — cuticles that overlap the nail reduce the adhesion surface.

-
Lightly buff the nail surface with the included nail file — this creates a micro-textured surface that helps the glue adhere better.

- Dry perfectly — moisture is the number one enemy of longevity. Wait until your nails are completely dry before starting.
Step 2 — Choose the Right Size
A press-on nail that is too small or too large will lift much faster. It should cover the entire width of your natural nail without touching the skin. Consult our MB Beauty size guide if you are unsure of your size.

Step 3 — Apply the Glue Correctly
The glue should be applied to your natural nail, not the press-on nail. Here's the technique for maximum hold:
- Apply a thin layer of glue to your natural nail, starting from the base

- Place the press-on nail starting from the cuticle base and press firmly for at least 15 seconds

- Ensure there are no air bubbles — press down over the entire surface
- Repeat for each finger, working quickly
Step 4 — The Crucial 60 Minutes After Application
The glue continues to cure for an hour after application. During this period:
- Avoid all contact with water
- Do not wash dishes
- Avoid activities that make your hands sweat
- Do not handle heavy objects
Following this 60-minute rule doubles the wear time.
Step 5 — Daily Maintenance
Once applied, a few simple habits extend the wear time:
- Avoid soaking your hands in hot water for too long — prolonged baths and dishwashing without gloves are the main causes of lifting
- Wear gloves for washing dishes or cleaning
- Do not use your nails as tools — avoid opening boxes or scratching surfaces with your press-on nails
- Apply a drop of glue if an edge starts to lift — act quickly before the lifting spreads
- Avoid oily products on your hands, especially creams and cuticle oils directly on the nail base
What to Do if a Nail Lifts?
If a nail lifts within the first 48 hours, it is almost always a preparation issue — residual oil, moisture, or improperly pushed-back cuticles. Clean the natural nail with alcohol, let it dry completely, and re-glue with a new drop of glue. Hold for at least 15 seconds.
How Long with Gel Pads?
With adhesive gel pads, wear time is 3 to 5 days. To maximize their duration, apply them to a perfectly clean and dry nail, and choose the gel pad size that best fits your nail. Avoid prolonged hot water, which softens the adhesive.
